Finally Home?

What a year I have had. I feel myself continually saying that; nevertheless, it is the utter truth. The past few years have been a whirlwind of events, changes, and moments that take my breath away. It is funny my high school class is planning a five year reunion and I can only further realize that girl I was five years ago is far from who I am today and I wouldn't have it any other way.

People say that you go to college to find yourself. I went into college convinced I knew exactly who I was and there would not be anything I needed to learn from college besides coursework. How wrong I was I realize now. Everyday can teach us something new and it truly does if you open your eyes to it. The darkest moments can be the instances that strengthen us to our cores. Although the past five years have  changed me it has been this past year that has been a true year of growth. Yes I have had years that have had some bigger life events, this one though definitely makes me stop and wonder. It is hard to even know where to begin.

To reflect over everything is not a short winded moment. In one year I traveled across the country multiple times, toured through Greece, worked in 3 states, performed CPR, pulled 24-36 hour days attending to others needs, became totally independent, moved halfway across the country, and started fresh in a  new place. If I had started writing this rather than in my journal a few months ago my tone might not have been so bright or enlightened rather filled with fears, doubts, and constant nightmares.

Moving to the "Big City" has not come without challenges. Consequently, it caused me to struggle frequently with my natural optimism and  perpetual belief that all happens for a reason. I found myself constantly questioning the decisions that led me to the path I had taken. It is hard to foresee, what the future holds but somehow I have an undying faith that everything occurs the way it is supposed to and has a magical way of guiding me on the path I am destined for. No matter the challenges I face I learn to grow and develop.

It seems that I know longer am drowning in the panic that surrounded me and I finally find myself reassured in my happiness and life. Furthermore, I feel that without the things I have experienced I would not be prepared to take the challenges life still has in store for me yet to come.  Currently, I am just a small midwestern town girl quickly learning the pace of the big northeastern city. From here who knows what life will bring but I am sure it will only be new exciting challenges.
